The First Step in a Lifetime Adventure

Daisy Girl Scouts meet in groups of 5 to 10 with 2 or more adult leaders in a fun, sharing group. Daisy Girl Scouts go on trips, learn about nature and science, and explore the arts and their communities. Daisy Girl Scouts can also earn Learning Petals and receive participation patches.

Sample Activities for Daisy Girl Scouts

  • Arts and crafts projects like finger-painting murals and making colorful barrettes and paper-bag puppets
  • Trips to pick pumpkins and apples
  • Camping and hiking with their family
  • Planning a picnic and making snacks
  • Planting a community garden
  • Earning patches for activities like reading fun books or helping their community

Troop/Group Leaders

Every Daisy Girl Scout belongs to a troop or group guided by leaders-community volunteers who are parents or other adults trained by the local Girl Scout council. Leaders work with girls to determine interests and decide on activities within the framework of the Girl Scout program. Parents are asked to support the leader by helping where needed, such as with transportation, group snacks, or family outings.

Uniforms and Books

Girls can wear a Daisy Girl Scout Membership Pin as a sign of their belonging to the Girl Scout Movement. They can also wear the Daisy Girl Scout tunic over their clothes or purchase a variety of official Daisy Girl Scout uniform components. The girls place Learning Petals and participation patches on their tunics or in a scrapbook. Girls can buy the Daisy Girl Scout Activity Book for fun projects and ideas. Leaders use the Guide for Daisy Girl Scout Leaders .

Activity Fun "Daisy" Tales
“I had a favorite watch that I wore on most days. It only had one hand, and couldn’t really tell me what time it was, but that never really bothered me.”

Do you have a favorite item-something that you like to wear a lot?
What is it?

“Once I brought a baby rabbit home because its ears were cold. So I gave it some hot water and rubbed its ears to warm him up.”

Do you like animals? What is your favorite animal? If you have a pet, how do you take care of it?

“I loved to go fishing. One night I went fishing and felt a tug on my fishing line. I thought I had caught a fish, but it turned out to be one of the people I took along with me.”

Have you ever gone fishing? What is your favorite thing to do?
